Burneside Courtyards Great Lakes RIBA competition entry (2019)
The units are designed to take advantages of permitted development rights and provide similarly sized rooms with undefined function to allow for maximal flexibility. Each unit is adaptable to household change and the flexibility to work from home, with amply space in the homes and within three community houses for office, studio or workshop space.
The scheme is split into six clusters that form open semi-public courtyards which lead into a large public green axis through the centre of the site, the scheme mediates between the semi-public community and the wider public community to blend into its context both architecturally and socially.
